MATERIALS EXAMINER & IDENTIFIER

The purpose of this position is to identify, examine, and classify material and equipment to make final determinations on acceptance and disposition of standardized and complex equipment on material using shipping documents, contracts, catalogs, drawings, and related documents. Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded Materials Handler(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines appropriate logistical procedures. Estimates time, equipment, and materials requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. May provide input to supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, PD changes, disciplinary actions, etc. Performs the full range of shop work. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Supervisor provides general instructions, time frames, policies, and priorities; is available for technical guidance, and assistance on unusual or controversial problems; and relies on the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish adequate quantity and quality of work. Incumbent determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an efficient and effective manner. Work is reviewed for efficient and economical accomplishment within priorities and control received. Physical effort and working conditions are the same as that required for other members of the shop. PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. Military Grades:

Must have a minimum of 12 months of experience which demonstrates knowledge of warehouse methods, procedures and techniques. Experience or training identifying and sorting a variety of complex materials and equipment. Experience receiving materials and equipment, recording, and placing items in proper storage areas. Experience preparing all items for shipment using appropriate agency instructions. Experience in mathematical equations. Experience interpreting and using Federal Supply Catalogs, military and manufacturing catalogs, and technical and agency manuals. Experience using and operating forklifts and motor vehicles. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
-Open to applicants E6 and below. -Applicants must possess a National Agency Security Check or be able to obtain a clearance if selected. -Must be able to pass the forklift operator testing requirements. -Must be able to lift up to 70lbs. -Must attend Transportation of Hazardous Materials and Local Radiation Safety Officer (LRSO) resident within one year of appointment. -Must complete GCSS-Army and Ammo Training within 1 year of assignment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
