Responsibilities:
The Shelter and Hotline Advocate is responsible for providing emergency support via our 24/7 hotline and onsite to service users staying in shelter.
There is an evening weekday active shift available Mondays- Fridays (5-10pm), an overnight asleep shift available Mondays- Sundays (10pm-8am), and weekend active shifts (8am-3pm and 3-10pm) that have varied roles and responsibilities.
We are primarily looking for candidates who have availability for overnight and weekend shifts.
The Shelter and Hotline Advocate is part of the Direct Services team and reports to the Shelter Coordinator.
Essential Functions:
? Day and evening active shifts:
o Provide coverage for front desk of shelter facility o Check visitors in and out of the building o Facilitate new resident intakes and move ins o Monitor security of building o Respond to resident needs as they arise ? Overnight asleep shifts (10p-8a):
o Respond to resident needs as they arise o Respond to shelter emergencies ? All shifts:
o Answer hotline calls:
? Provide information, advocacy, support and referrals ? Provide crisis management support and intervention as needed o Facilitate emergency move ins o Respond to/communicate after-hours maintenance issues as they arise o Assist residents locked out of their rooms or the building o Maintain records of service user contact in electronic database o Foster a supportive community in the shelter by maintaining confidentiality and professionalism o Report after-hours shelter activity and/or hotline issues to the Shelter Coordinator o Perform other duties as needed, assigned, and directed Organizational

Working Conditions:
? Working after hours in a domestic violence emergency shelter ? Varied hours and varied days Knowledge, skills and abilities:
? Knowledge of the causes and effects of domestic violence and related safety issues ? Basic computer skills, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office ? Ability to learn or experience with data entry ? Demonstrated ability to support people in conflict resolution and through crisis situations ? Ability to work independently ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills ? Willingness to work flexible hours, as this role is primarily weekends, evenings, and overnight shifts Hours and Compensation:
The compensation for this position is as follows:
- Evening active shifts (5-10p):
$20.
11 per hour (working primarily from front desk) - Overnight asleep shifts (10p-8a):
$16.
85 per hour (working out of on-site, private, furnished apartment) - Holiday pay is 1.
5x hourly rate Advocates may sign up for any available shifts including consecutive evening & overnight shifts for a combined 15-hour shift.
No regular shifts or hours are guaranteed.
